Looks like you are a victim, too.  You think your only choice is Windows
work.  (It may well be, though, depending where you live.  Some locales
are still in Podunk mode.)

I make my living doing Windows programming, yet I, too, am really
starting to feel like a victim.  My XP install has gotten extremely
problematic, and causes me a significant amount of wasted time every
day.

Once things settle down, my work machine will be slicked, and Win 2000
will replace XP.  I've had it with XP.  It is garbage.
