Keep in mind that countries like India and China have populations of
over 1 billion people. When you want to sell products TO people in
those countries, you have to price your products to match their
incomes. Yes, IBM can get Indian Labor for 1/4 the price of US labor,
but IBM has to sell them products at 1/4 the price as well. More
importantly, there are things that India needs that IBM can't provide.
The have 1 billion people who need food, clothing, medicine, building
supplies, and building equipment.

10 years ago, farmers plowed land under and threw milk into the sewers
while people in India, Asia, and Africa starved to death. Today the
farmers get markets and prices that actually work for them, while
people who would have starved are responsible productive contributors
to the global economy.

Makes pretty good sense. The freebie version is ugly. If you want
lots of pretty eye-candy, buy the commercial product or configure it
yourself.

SUSE 10.0 looks pretty nice.
