Not many users in the office have speakers on their PCs. We in linux get
various opening sounds, from a bepp through a little riff through to what
sounds to me like a strangled cat. 

I don't see it as a major thing, things are only anoying if you allow them
to anoy you.

PS: No cats were harmed in the making of Linux, though a few Penguines have
come to a sticky end, but that is alright because a bird that is so
mentally disturbed that it thinks it's a fish only has itself to blame.
