I presume that this is when we see MS's pun on unix (singularity)
emerge (to pun gentoo :-). There will surely be enough people out there
who will voluntarily spend money on Vista to make up for some of the
work, but I think MS will finally have to abandon the whole NT mess in
order to take on linux. It's quite true that their marketing expertise
and muscle, and their contacts deep into governments, will help them
through all kinds of problems, but in the end, I still can't see how
they will compete with free.
