After takin' a swig o' grog, Roy Schestowitz belched out this bit o' wisdom:
> Linux ultra fast command line download accelerator

I tried it from kernel.org. axel had an average rate of 394 KB/s, while
wget had 376 KB/s.
But, for some reason, wget stalled complete a couple of times, for a few
seconds each time, which I've never seen it do before. It had peaked at
over 600KB/s for awhile.
I suspect axel would work better with mirror sites added to the mix.
