I'd not heard of documentum before.  I did design a workflow system a
few years back for the workplace;  very simple, just electronic
job-cards really with a web front-end, and a document repository for
design documents to move with the jobs.  

Although a tactical solution costing < £10k in initial development
(plus a PC to run it on), it remains in use now.  I think one of the
main reasons being that it is simple, does just one job, and does it
well.

It was fundamental to our corporate development, as people were being
moved to multiple sites, and away from a single building, where they'd
previously been, so some method of moving work between groups/teams was
required.  It never ceases to amaze me how simple most solutions can be
:-)
