Thanks, Kier, for the advice. I do try to read the articles carefully and
sometimes in full (PJ does this as well before posting anything), but it
does not guarantee that the article is accurate (Linux.com corrected
BoycottNovell.com in the past because a major publication had a mistake that
led to a 'broken telephone' effect). Sometimes you are held responsible for
someone else's mistake as there's no peer review.

You can never avoid accidents altgother, but you can reduce their frequency.
Sometimes, as in this case, the headlines are subtle or deceiving. I thought
that my subject lines aligned with the original headline, given the parts I
have read. Remember the Internetnews.com article that said "surprise:
Windows is the most secure OS"? I bet the guy who published this has hurt
his career. He had to modify the headline, post an apology as a standalone
article, he damaged the reputation of Symantec, he deceived, and he hurt the
reputation of an actual publisher (and not some forum). The mistake
propagated onto other Web sites which will not correct this (some have no
reader feedback facility), so the damage was done. He thought he had a
brilliant and suprising ("surprise:") headline, but boy was he wrong. He
should learn from Dvorak, who admits trolling and is therefore no longer
credible.
