You can if the drive supports CD-TEXT and the disc has CD-TEXT info,
which they rarely, if ever, do. It's just one of many standards that got
sidelined, like HDCD.

Good grief! I just checked the Wiki-P for HDCD, and now the IP
apparently belongs to ... Microsoft!

Is /nothing/ safe from these harvesters?

There's all manner of optical disc standards that never took off, and/or
were never implemented properly. IMHO packet writing is another one -
something which, again, Microsoft is trying to "re-brand" as it's own
invention.

To the corporations, innovation only matters if it makes money. Indeed,
I wouldn't be surprised if the Webster definition for "innovation" had
been changed to "profit", certainly that seems to be Microsoft's opinion.
