Litigation Linux, has a special ring! IMHO, I think that
those in Europe will not have much trouble with legality
issues, as the EU has taken extra care to clarify what
software is not patentable. (ref. Europarl 2003-09-24:
Amended Software Patent Directive:

US still has additional work needed to clean up the patent
system.
However, it won't deter me from using Ubuntu and Debian.
A placeholder is up, but we're just pointing to Shane's live

There are easy tools for creating SUSE derivatives (Fedora 7
and PCLOS 2007 probably follow rPath's and Novell's lead in
that respect). Let's see how it goes.
I am sure there are derivatives. However, I have gravitated to
Debian based distros. I plan to stay there a while.
My recent installation to my Dell C600, 850 MHz, 512 MB system
when my 100 GB Samsung 2.5" drive arrived worked smooth without a
hitch. Edubuntu also verified I have a bonified hardware
problem, a glitch that appears to be related to the on-board
mouse device. I plan to disassemble the case and reseat all
connectors. Sometimes fungus inhibits electrical connectivity,
that may cure it. If not, parts are inexpensive enough that I
should be able to get that remedied.
Ubuntu runs very smoothly on it, I am pleasantly surprised.
Windows 2000 ran on it, but in a bloated manner. It didn't make
a difference whether I ran AVG or Symantec antivirus and personal
firewalls on it. Overall system was sluggish.
With Ubuntu, Open Office runs a little quicker than the windows
version. Overall it boots up more quickly. It is now a decent
machine to lug around. Once I clear up that minor glitch, should
be a keeper for the next couple years.
