Notice that the dollar amounts are small, maybe $20,000 total on the
list of donations to House members, while the Reg article says 8
something million altogether political donations in 2005. This is
still peanuts for Microsoft, but a lot more than the $20,000 on the
list for the House, so one wonders where in detail the $8 million
went. (It's peanuts for Microsoft, but a big deal in elections.)
Part of the effort is in preventing the $300 something million fine
from the EU, so their expenses are very small measured against that.
I'm amazed at how little money it takes to bribe legislators. I've
heard that $5,000 is enough in Washington to influence legislation,
and Microsoft is spending only $1,000 on a lot of congressmen (Pelosi
got more, presumably for being Speaker).
