Re: [News] GNOME's Future Direction Discussed

Verily I say unto thee, that graeme spake thusly:

It's NATed and firewalled up the yazoo and back again, and there's no
DMZ either. And that's before you consider authentication, certificates,
IDS, login auto kickban, and SELinux MACs.

Is it impenetrable? No, but the dozens of hack attempts *per day* for
the last *three years* have all met with failure (and an auto-LART as a
bonus), so I'm not exactly losing sleep over it.

As for the Windopes boxen. Bleh! Even *I* can't communicate with the
damned things, so I wish any potential hacker the best of luck.

As for using HTTP/FTP in lieu of proper network shares, too much hassle.
I run Apache on one server for distributed updates across the LAN, so I
suppose I could link the data in from the NFS shares, but I really can't
be bothered. I refuse to waste any more time and effort banging my head
against a wall for the benefit of Microsoft's broken protocols. For all
the little time I ever use those damned boxes, it just ain't worth it.
