What we do know about Windows 7

,----[ Quote ]
| Windows 7 will be a minor update to Vista — with “minor,” here, meaning as
| less disruptive as possible to users and their applications. Microsoft has
| said Windows 7 will use the same driver model that Vista did.

Release date unknown. It's more like Service Pack for Vista, *maybe* to be seen
some time in 2011 (judging by Microsoft's typical schedules).

This confirms that Windows is a dead end, no matter how much lipstick Mary Jo
and others whose career depends on Windows try to put on it. It's still
vapourware. The Seattle P-I too is suggesting that all the vapourware
(promises) still make it minor.

This is great news for Linux. Windows won't recover. Vista contaminated the
codebase, which is too unmanageable for progress to be made.

| January 26th, 2008. Looks like Microsoft is NOT planning to release Windows 7
| in 2009. Microsoft's official response, by an email dated 26th January, 2008,
| to WinVistaClub states that Windows 7 is still in the planning stage and will
| take approximately 3 years to develop.

Impossible thing #1: Developing efficient, well engineered free software like
Debian GNU/Linux

,----[ Quote ]
| So, not only does free software represent a vast amount of effort, but it is
| apparently very well-engineered and efficient effort leading to an even
| higher use value than equivalent proprietary products! Not only can free
| software manage large, complex projects, but it appears to do it better than
| proprietary methods.
