AMD has offered very effective Paravirtualization, which enables PCs
to be configured as "dual boot" and run BOTH Windows AND Linux on the
same PC at the same time, with almost no performance penalty. Linux
is the "host" or "dominant" OS, but the Windows machine barely
realizes that Linux is there.

One can guess that Microsoft is doing everything it can to promote
Intel. Intel may have offered illegal inducements and rebates in
exchange for exclusionary terms, similar to tactics Microsoft used.

Without knowing the details of the case, and the investigation, it's
hard to say, but the EU has become much less tolarant of the
"Discounts for Exclusions" terms in a number of different contracts.
Keep in mind that SuSE originated out of Germany, Mandriva is in
France, and Linux is popular on Acorn processors made in Britian.
Several countries in the EU have a vested interest in breaking up the
"WinTel" monopoly.
