I sometimes think that a single well-integrated machine has an advantage
over multiple weaker machines. The maintenance (various synchronisations),
electricity consumption, and setup time make it less than desirable unless
you deal with multiple platforms.

At the moment I have Windows, Linux and Mac at the office, which is proba-
bly ideal for support purposes. The Windows machine has not been touched
for about 3 months and the Mac -- about a month. Back when the primary ma-
chine ran Windows, I was using Mandrake to produce some fine images with
the GIMP and then passed them over on a floppy disk. In this particular
case with a Mac, which could also run what is already run is tandem (Ubun-
tu), I can't see such a step as pragmatic. I wouldn't do it for challenge
or vanity and I am also aware, sometimes at the back of my mind, that it
comes handy when Mac users report problems.

Best wishes,

Roy
