FWIW...
Is it possible to get another ISP? I've never heard of one that insists on
webmail and completely disables POP (or IMAP)--I suppose it could be. That
sounds like something straight out of AOL, and so last century. :)
I had just the opposite problem with my folks: I set them up with kmail on
BellSouth. But they seem to prefer BellSouth webmail; go figure.
I left my folks with root access for just such an occasion. If need be, it
will let me walk them through YaST ssh setup over the phone, so I can make
adjustments myself via ssh and YaST in CLI mode on their system.
