I sent that to MS and they were kind enough to reply.

"We at MS want our customers to feel at home with the new Vista so we gave
them the interface that they are familiar with."

That is fair enough really, the pre releases (as in linux) are really meant
for testing and reporting back any problems, as well as giving jernos a
chance to give a general view of the product, it has to be expected that
some of the nicities will not be in the pre-release simply to speed up
download time for the testers.

I think there really will be slow deployment, many fellow IT people who have
no choice at the moment but to stay with MS are very worried about Vista.

I was talking to some online yesterday, it was online chat but I knew I was
talking to people with their head in their hands dreading what was coming,
so I gave them the link that 'Ghost in the machine' from here showed us
yesterday,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Features_new_to_Windows_Vista

There are some good moves in there in the security area, some in the list
from the brief description given seem a little bit like white wash, but
that depends on how it was implemented. Others are very much in the right
direction.

The people I was talking to seemed a bit happier, but of cause there is that
doubt because untill Vista is out proper you can't tell how well MS have
implemented these security areas.

I know what your thinking 'About bloody time, why couldn't they have
addressed this stuff years ago', I think the same, but if they are making a
genuine effort that is all we really need, so we can move on in computing
and in particular internet development. If it turns out the other way, that
MS have made a crap job of this, I can't see even hardened MS users being
as forgiving this time, nor the courts nor businesses.
