I'm trying to new soundcards now, but it still does not work:

1) I've tried a Creative SoundBlaster AudioPCI 128, which seems to have
a driver but I've got the following answer when I've tried to configure
it:

The kernel module snd-ens 1371 for sound support could not be loaded.
This can be caused by incorredct module parameters, including invalid
IO or IRQ parameters.

This time it seems that something is missing in my system, because the
ALSA page says the card is supported. May be I have to dowload
something.

2) I have here a Genius sound Maker Value 5.1 with a CD with
installations instructions. Unfortunatly I am not sure how to follow
the instructions. Some are like:

Config cm8338 driver by 'make menuconfig', 'make config' or 'make
xconfig' command.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks,
Filipe
