Microsoft needs to get their collective head out of the proverbial sand.

Virtualization is the way of the future. Computers are so powerful that
unless you have a stupidly bloated operating system, your OS is not going
to use all that the system is capable of.

So why would a company prevent peole from using their products in a
virtual environment?

Simple.

Fear.

Microsoft is afraid that the average user will discover that other
operating systems can do the job that Microsoft's operating system claims
to do. They can do it for less money and less overhead and less
limitation. They can do it the way they want to do it versus how some
company makes them do it.

If Microsoft allowed their "low end" operating systems to run as a guest,
then the average user would wean themselves off of the bloat and the
garbage only running the Microsoft system when needed.
